For the second year in a row, contests dedicated to one of the most popular multi-player online games have been supported by Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation, Russia’s leading producer of combat tanks.
The super-play-off featured the strongest teams: four Russian ones, four teams from North America, and four teams from Poland and Germany each, who represented the European server. There were also two teams of Chinese gamers, and a Japanese team represented the Southeast Asia server. All in all, about 5,000 cyber-sports teams from all around the world applied for this year’s qualification matches of Ural Steel 2012. Over 1,500 teams representing three parts of the world competed for the right to enter the final.
During the super-play-off, Uralvagonzavod’s Deputy DG for Special Vehicles Vyacheslav Khalitov addressed the contestants. He congratulated all the players and stressed that the winner team would get a unique opportunity to visit Nizhniy Tagil in 2013 and come to the arms and ammunition fair Russian Expo Arms 2013.
The competition lasted a few hours. As a result, the first prize and the title of the world’s best virtual troopers were given to the Russian team The RED: Rush Unity. In addition to a valuable team prize, each team member was given a tablet computer. These young people will also get to see Russian Expo Arms 2013. Russian teams (The RED-Z GRA and Virtus.ProACE) also won the second and the third prizes.
