August 19, 2014. Director-General of Uralvagonzavod Scientific and Production Corporation Oleg Sienko congratulated winners and participants of the world tank biathlon championship that took place in Alabino, Moscow Region, the corporation’s press service reports.
On behalf of the corporation, which acted as the general sponsor for the event, the executive awarded the members of the strongest crew with special prizes: a top grade UAZ Patriot for every team member.
At the end of the team championship, the first prize was given out to the Russian national team: the contestants managed to traverse their track in 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 13 seconds. As for the crew contest, the Russian crew headed by Marat Khalikov proved the strongest.
Khalikov pointed out that it is exactly in his new UAZ Patriot that he is planning to drive back home to Dagestan, where his wife, son, and other relatives supported him remotely. The tank operator praised the T 72B3 tank particularly highly, as this was the tank with which he’d won the tank biathlon competition.
‘Uralvagonzavod’s T 72B3 is a great machine with outstanding terrain crossing capacity and good visual field, with viewing performed by modern observation devices. I am glad that Russia and the Russian Armed Forces can use such tanks,’ Khalikov stressed.
Uralvagonzavod Corporation both prepared prizes for the contest winners and actually made the T 72 B3 tanks with which the teams competed; the corporation was also in charge of coordinating and training the Russian national team. Besides, the company experts and the Russian Defense Ministry helped with organization of the final stages of the championship by carrying out preparatory work relating to special vehicles prior to and upon their arrival in Alabino.
