Uralvagonzavod Supports 70th Track-n-Field Contest in Nizhniy Tagil

The 70th track-and-field contest was held in Nizhniy Tagil recently, with prizes awarded by Machinostroitel, Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s corporate newspaper. The contest was dedicated to the newspaper’s 80th anniversary and gathered 93 teams, the corporation’s press service reports.

Every year, teams from each of Uralvagonzavod’s divisions take part in the contest. This year, not only the representatives of the corporation’s head enterprise, but also workers from Nizhniy Tagil-based Transport Machine-Building Design Bureau and Uralcryomash, Yekaterinburg-based Uraltransmash and Plant 9, Kamensk-Uralsky-based foundry plant, Chelyabinsk-based Electromachine, and the corporation’s northernmost production site Volchansky Mechanical Plant entered the running competition (4,530 meters). All in all, 1,546 people joined the race.

As for the women’s teams, Uralvagonzavod Materials Research & Testing Center’s team proved the strongest: this team ran the distance in 15 minutes and 24 seconds, which was better than the last year’s winner’s result. Among the men’s teams, workers from the Lifecycle Maintenance Division were the best. They went trough the 15 stages of the race in 13 minutes and 0.09 seconds. The team from the Logistics Support Administration won the mixed-team contest with its 13 minutes and 0.05 seconds.

The VIP race featured 76 heads of departments, administrations and divisions of the corporation’s head enterprise as well as division directors. The corporation’s other enterprises competed in a separate race, where Uraltransmash team was the winner.
