UVZ Sets New Production Record

6 July 2012 (11:52)

Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) came up with a performance report for the six months of 2012. June proved the most productive month, and a new record of 2,500 railway vehicles made within a month was set, the plant’s press service reports.

All in all, 13,918 wagons and carriages have been produced at this Nizhniy Tagil-based plant sicne the beginning of the year. This was 8.5% more than a year earlier, even though January-June 2011 were the most productive months in the plant’s history. This figure includes 11,010 open top carriages, 2, 820 tanks, and 88 lumber vessels.

The plant’s sales revenues came to 38.9bn RUR in the first half of 2012, which was nearly 30% better than a year earlier. The sales profits are expected to reach 6.5bn RUR (18.2% more than a year earlier) and the net profit is estimated to come to 3.4bn RUR. EBITDA has remained the same as last year (5.9bn RUR).

The second half of the year looks just as ambitious. The plant intends to make 56.8bn RUR in terms of sales revenues, primarily due to selling 13,850 carriages. Also, 10, 760 open top carriages, 3,000 tanks and a number of other types of carriages and vehicles will be produced in the second six months of 2012.

Most likely, over 27,000 railway units will be produced at UVZ parent enterprise, so the year 2012 will prove the most successful one not only in the history of the plant but also in the history of the entire railway industry.
