Innovations presented by Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won medals at the 23d International Inventions, Innovations & Technologies Exibition ITEX’12.
The exhibition was held at KLCC Center in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). This event, aimed at converting innovations into profits, was coordinated by Malaysia’s Science & Technologies and Higher Education Ministry with support from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Over 350 participants from 14 different countries presented 700 innovations in the fields of nanotechnologies, environmental protection, biotechnologies, metallurgy, energy efficiency and alternative energy sources, and new materials.
The Russian delegation (appointed by the Russian Education & Science Ministry) included Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works representatives. The company presented five new patented developments. The models were prepared by the experts from the patent & licensing group and the advertising group. While the exhibition was in progress, MMK stand displayed an advertising clip on the company.
‘The stand attracted a great number of experts, representatives of Malaysia’s business and scientific communities, stand-holders and the numerous visitors to the fair. Many of them expressed an interest in the range of products the company makes. Experts from the international board of jurors asked questions about the main idea behind the innovations, their degree of novelty, environmental safety, energy and material resource savings, and commercialization potential,’ MMK reports.
Three of MMK’s innovations were awarded gold medals: Method of Producing Cold-Rolled Strips for Enamel Coating, Method of Producing Cold-Resistant Flat Stock, and Method of Hot-Rolling Low-Alloyed Steel on a Continuous Broad-Strip Mill with Two Sets of Coilers. Method of Converter Steelmaking and Method of Channel Beam Milling were given silver medals.
MMK’s patents were also awarded a diploma of Taiwan Invention Products Promotion Association.
