Academic, Yekaterinburg’s newest district, needs to have its Krasnolesye St reconstructed in the area of Amundsen St and Chkalov St. Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg for Urban Development, Transportation & Environment Evgeny Lipovitch visited the district to look into the situation in the field, the city council’s press service reports.

It is reported that the length of the road under construction is 1.89 km. Before the reconstruction began, Krasnolesye was a two-way street with only one lane in each direction. Now the city council officials decided to widen the road and build three 10.5-meter lanes in each direction.

The builders will also put up a new storm sewer system and a new set of street lights as well as some power lines. As a result, the renewed Krasnolesye St will become the district’s main highway.

All these measures are targeted at providing a link between Academic district and Amundsen St, which will both make it possible to increase the vehicle traffic and to introduce a means of public transport there. For one, we are currently considering introducing a trolley route through Krasnolesye St and inside the district,’ says an employee of the municipal organization on capital construction Vladimir Ogloblin.
