Yekaterinburg: Locals to Join Construction Project Discussion

6 August 2019 (09:17)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 6, 2019. Residents of Yekaterinburg's District Akademicheskiy are going to contribute to the discussion around the construction project for an office/culture center in the district, the town council's Information Policy Department reports.

'We are currently working on the issue of what the district's primary office building should look like if the district acquires the official status of Yekaterinburg's administrative unit,' the town council says.

Yekaterinburg Council and the developer RSG-Akademicheskoye announced in April they were looking for a contractor to provide the urban development concept for the center. The judges' panel considered four applications submitted by Gordeev-Demidov Architects, Start! Architects, Tatiana Kochneva, and Arkady Kochnev.

The district's residents asked the developer for the opportunity to contribute to the decision-making process relating to the building or buildings and the land allotments around.

'The judges agreed the locals' opinion had to be taken into account when deciding upon the concept for Akademicheskiy's office/culture center. These are the professional architects, however, who will have the final say regarding the winning application,' says Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Vysokinsky.

District Akademicheskiy's residents can submit their feedback on the center's preferred location and architectural concept at the town council's website within the next two weeks.
