Yekaterinburg Selects Design Concept for Culture Facility in Akademicheskiy

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 10, 2019. Yekaterinburg Council selected the winners in the competition for the best design concept for an office/culture center in the city’s District Akademicheskiy. Gordeyev-Demidov Architects won the first prize, while Start! and Arkady Kochnev won silver and bronze, respectively, the town council’s website states.

‘The judges’ panel looked into four proposals that made it to the finals: the one presented by Gordeyev-Demidov Architects, the one by Start!, the one by Tatiana Kochneva, and the one by Arkady Kochnev. Gordeyev-Demidov Architects scored 92 points and won the first prize; Start! scored 73 points and got the second prize; and Arkady Kochnev scored 61 points and got the third prize,’ the website says.

The concept proposed by Start! was deemed best by popular vote, getting 50.8% of votes from Yekaterinburg residents who voted on the town council’s website.

The office/culture center will get built in Quarter 33 (a 20-hectare patch within Wilhelm de Gennin St-Timofeyev-Resovsky St-Akademik Sakharov Ave plus Preobrazhensky Park entrance).
