Khortytsa’s goods praised at International Wine and Spirits Challenge — 2007

All the samples presented by Khortytsa (aka Hortiza) at the International Wine and Spirits Challenge — 2007 contest held in Great Britain were highly praised by the world’s most influential experts, the company’s press officer says.

The contest, originally set up by Robert Joseph and Charles Metcalf, soon became the most respectable and large-scale strong drinks exhibition in the world. The participants compete in the International Spirits Challenge and the International Wine Challenge categories with their strong drinks and wines, respectively. There are normally 600 kinds of strong drinks and over 10,000 kinds of wines featuring in the contest every year.

There are three panels of assessors for the International Spirits Challenge category; the first panel’s job is to evaluate cognacs and the like; the second panel looks into the quality of different kinds of whiskey, and the third panel assesses vodkas. Upon the closure of the contest, drinks are classified on the basis of quality, so this classification can serve as both a gourmet’s manual and a ‘password’ that grants one entry to the up-market drink producers’ elite.

Khortytsa, Ukraine’s No. 1 strong drinks producer, presented its products at the International Wine and Spirits Challenge for the first time this year. All of the company’s drinks were awarded with medals: a silver one was given to Khortytsa Platinum and three bronze ones were given to Khortytsa Silver Cool, Khortytsa Classic, and Khortytsa Wheat.

In addition, Khortytsa takes pride in its ProdExpo 2007 and WORLD SPIRITS COMPETITION — 2007 awards. Over the four years of the company’s existence, Khortytsa was given over 50 quality certificates and 200 medals at the international competitions. Its produce meets the international ISO 9001, ISO 22, ISO 14, and ISO 14024 standards and is sold in 54 different countries.

Khortytsa, set up in 2003, makes 1.5 decalitres of strong drinks a year – the output that is only outstripped by Smirnoff and Absolut. The company’s share on the Ukrainian market comes to 29%.
