Concrete roof falls down due to violation of occupational safety provisions when dismantling metalwork at Kasli Machine Building Plant

A 100 square meter-patch of concrete roof fell down at No. 2 shop of Kasli Machine Building Plant (Chelyabinsk Region) due to violation of occupational safety provisions when dismantling metalwork on September 1, 2006. The debris hit and badly damaged a GAZ-66 truck with one person inside, so nine firefighters from Kasli district, six rescuers from Snezhinsk, three rescuers from Ozersk, and seven rescue rangers from Kystym (twenty-five people and seven vehicles altogether) were immediately sent to save the life of the person buried alive under the wrecks of the roof. The 27-year-old victim was rescued and taken to hospital; his condition is now satisfactory, the spokesperson for Department of Emergencies in Chelyabinsk Region said to UrBC representative.
