3 August 2011 (09:39)

The law-enforcement authorities of Sverdlovsk Region’s Krasnoturyinsk Investigative Department accused a fifty-four-year-old Krasnoturyinsk dweller and sole trader Naimjon Mamadzhanov of committing a crime described in Article 143 (part 2) of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (violation of labor safety regulations leading to involuntary manslaughter), the Investigative Department’s press service reports.

It was revealed in the course of an inquiry that two workers, who happened to be the citizens of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, were working on the roof of one of the alumina shops at Bogoslovsky smelter (BAZ SUAL) in Krasnoturyinsk at 2:30 PM on June 9, 2011. Their jobs were being performed in accordance with a labor contract they signed with Mamadzhanov. The workers loaded some roof slates into a building cradle and started moving upwards. When they were nearly on the roof, the hoisting slings got torn apart due to excess weight, upon which the two men with their roof slates fell down (the height was twenty-five meters) and died at once.
