MMK Management Sets Up Senior Support Account

31 March 2020 (09:12)

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, March 31, 2020. The management of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) suggested setting up a special-purpose donations account to support seniors in the COVID-19 pandemic, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

‘Older people are known to be a higher risk group as far as the novel type of coronavirus is concerned. Donations accumulated in the account will be directed to supporting the elderly and to preventing the spread of COVID-19 among the seniors of Magnitogorsk. First and foremost, aid will be provided to the residents of Magnitogorsk who are now in retirement and live alone. A list of these people comes from the town council’s social services. These pensioners will get food and medication (depending on their particular case) delivered to their homes,’ MMK says.

Metallurg Charity Foundation set up a settlement account at AO KUB in order to accept donations from private individuals and organizations. Everyone can now use this opportunity to support Magnitogorsk’s elderly residents. The foundation will rely heavily on its own organizational resources and those of MMK Group’s Young Metallurgists’ Union when supporting the local seniors. The union members are also willing to act as volunteers.
