Yekaterinburg: Buildings in District Akademicheskiy Disinfected

23 March 2020 (09:14)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 23, 2020. Yekaterinburg’s housing management companies now have to use chlorine-based disinfectants when doing their regular cleaning routines; the step has been taken in order to prevent the possible spread of the novel coronavirus type COVID-19.

This set of preventative measures was suggested to the town mayors by Sverdlovsk Region’s Ministry for Energy & Utilities, Yekaterinburg Council’s website states.

District Akademicheskiy Housing Management Company was among the first to implement the new measures. A demonstration of the cleaning procedure was provided in an apartment building at 53 Sakharov St on March 19.

The cleaning routine at one of the building’s entrances got complemented with disinfection measures: the cleaning service employee mopped the floors with a disinfectant-soaked mop. The floorcloth was then taken to the laundry room (situated right within the building’s entrance). After that, all the door knobs, banisters, elevator buttons and all the other surfaces that the building residents touch frequently got disinfected as well.

Effective March 18, 2020, public transport facilities and Yekaterinburg Underground will be subjected to daily disinfection as well.
