MMK Supports All-Russian Biathlon Championship in Abzakovo

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, January 21, 2020. The Open All-Russian Youth Biathletes Competition A. Bogali-SKIMiR Cup took place at Abzakovo Biathlon Ski Resort Center this week; the event was supported by Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK).
The championship gathered together young men and women born in 2003-2010 (some five hundred young biathletes from twenty-one parts of Russia ranging from Murmansk to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk). The sports players competed in four age groups and three categories: individual race, sprint, and Supermixt relay race. The biathletes from Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Sports Club performed quite well in the competition, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
‘The first day of the championship featured young biathletes in the 12-13 age group (teens born in 2007 and 2008) and the 10-11 age group (children born in 2009 and 2010) in the individual race competitions. Daria Arefyeva came first among girls born in 2007-2008; Anna Makhmutova came fifth.
The second day was reserved for young men and women in the 16-17 age group (teens born in 2003 and 2004) and the 14-15 age group (teens born in 2005 and 2006). Ekaterina Maftulyak came third among girls born in 2003-2004; Daria Kozhevnikova came fourth; Anna Frolova came sixth among girls born in 2005-2006. Grigory Bryukhov from Magnitogorsk came fourth in the individual race among boys born in 2005-2006,’ the company says.
A super-sprint for contestants in the 12-13 age group (teens born in 2007 and 2008) took place on January 17. The following day, a super-sprint for biathletes in the 14-15 and 16-17 age groups got coordinated as well. Three Supermixt relay races at the end completed the second round of the Cup.
