Uralvagonzavod sponsors cycling championship

May 13, 2014. The first open-entry cycling championship took place in Nizhniy Tagil on May 10-11, 2014. Uralvagonzavod Scientific and Production Corporation acted as the sponsor of the event.
According to the corporation’s press service, the solemn opening ceremony was attended by the company’s Executive Director Vladimir Roshchupkin and President of FVS SO Nikolai Sudakov, who thanked the corporation’s Director-General Oleg Sienko for the help in the coordination of the cycling race.
210 cyclists from Nizhniy Tagil, Pervouralsk, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sysert, Yekaterinburg, Asbest, Sinegorsk, Kopeisk, Pyshma, Perm, Novouralsk, and Slyudorudnik took part in the championship.
On May 10, an individual start race against time took place. The contestants had to cycle along a ten-kilometer track that waved along the central streets of Nizhniy Tagil’s Dzerzhinsky District and the area around I.V. Okunev Palace of Culture. On May 11, a one-start team race took place, involving 10 groups of contestants. The shortest distance was designated for boys born in 2002 or later. Men and juniors had to cycle a 55-kilometer race, while girls, junior females, and women had to cycle between 4 and 25 kilometers depending on their subgroup.
Anastassia Pecherskaya from Sysert was the first in the individual race among girls born in 2002 or later and in the team race. Ilya Shchegolkov from Nizhniy Tagil was the first among boys born in 2002 or later. Alena Puzanova from Kopeisk was the first in the individual race among girls born in 2000-2001 and in the team race. Lev Gonov from Sysert was the first in the individual race among boys born in 2000-2001 and in the team race.
Arina Kabitskaya from Sysert was the first among young women born in 1998-1999. Dmitri Berdin from Nizhniy Tagil was the first among young men born in 1998-1999. Viktoria Zhdanova from Verkhnyaya Pyshma was the first among junior females born in 1996-1997, she was also the first in the team race. Timur Lukmanov from Verkhnyaya Pyshma was the first among junior males born in 1996-1997. Evgenia Tretyakova from Pervouralsk was the first among women in both races. Gennady Tatarinov from Pervouralsk was the first among men in the individual race; the second and third places went to sports players from Pervouralsk as well.
