UrBC, Magnitogorsk, October 7, 2019. Managerial staff and trade union representatives at Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) congratulated the plant’s retired long-service employees on Senior Citizen’s Day, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
‘A special performance for the plant’s senior-age former workers took place at S.Ordzhonikidze Metallurgists’ Culture Palace on October 1. This year, some 1,000 former MMK employees came to see the show,’ the plant says.
‘It is human nature that we generally need a special occasion to say something nice to our parents, teachers, and mentors. Perhaps this is the reason Senior Citizen’s Day is so important. This is the day we express our gratitude to the older generation, who contributed to the history of this plant and this town,’ Head of MMK Trade Union Boris Semenov said during the show.
Acting Director-General at MMK Oleg Shiryayev, State Duma deputy Vitaly Bakhmetyev, Chair of Magnitogorsk Deputy Assembly Alexander Morozov, and Chair of MMK Seniors’ Council Alexander Titov all found some heartfelt words for their mentors and former coworkers.
There are currently nearly 21,000 retirees (including 25 Great Patriotic War veterans and 592 home front workers) in MMK Group’s Trade Union’s database.
