UrBC, Magnitogorsk, August 26, 2019. Workers at LLC MMK-COAL are getting ready to celebrate Miner’s Day, MMK Information & PR Department reports.
‘The company consists of Chertinskaya-Koksovaya Mine, Kostromovskaya Mine, and Central Processing Plant. Now Kostromovskaya Mine is a relatively new one, as it got started on eleven years ago, whereas Chertinskaya-Koksovaya Mine is one the first mines to get set up in Kemerovo Region. Even so, the older mine keeps producing increasingly more coal and is, in fact, going through a renaissance. The mine underwent major tech overhaul and retooling and switched to a new rock delivery technique, which boosted the enterprise’s production capacity considerably. The miners are now setting new output records all the time,’ the company says.
For one, the mine produced 2.163m tons of coal a year for the first time in 2018. 1m tons of coal got extracted in the first five months of 2019 alone, and the expected output by the end of the year is set at the record-breaking 2.3m tons.
Kostromovskaya Mine, built with the latest technologies available at the time, got launched in 2008 and is expected to reach its projected capacity this year. Up till now, there was a certain limit to how much coal from the mine the company’s railway stations could handle and take to Central Processing Plant. The stations are now being reconstructed to increase their traffic capacity; as a result, Central Processing Plant will get more coal to process,’ MMK says.
