UrBC, Magnitogorsk, August 1, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won in the 16th Highly Socially Efficient Mining & Metallurgical Sector Enterprise Contest in Youth Projects, MMK’s Information, PR & Advertising Department reports.

Fifty enterprises from twenty different parts of Russia that are all members of fourteen metallurgical holdings and, among them, employ 40% of Russia’s mining and metallurgical workers took part in the contest all in all. Based on the Russian Government’s recommendation, the winners will go on to compete for the status of Russia’s Highly Socially Efficient Enterprise.

MMK has always prioritized investing in youth programs. The Young Metallurgists’ Union, together with the plant’s management and the trade union, work to attract, select, and retain young workers. The union is actually Magnitogorsk’s largest youth organization, with 300+ MMK Group employees and a number of volunteers as its members. In 2018, MMK directed RUB 2.3m to youth projects. The youth council’s efforts help young workers fit in the MMK team and reveal their professional, sports, and creative potentials, the Department says.

MMK Group’s MMK METIZ also won in the contest in Healthcare & Job Safety.
