UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 19, 2019. EVRAZ Holding contributed to a new skatepark and to the upgrades of Spartak Yacht Club in Nizhniy Tagil, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Communications Center’s press service reports.
The company helped buy the materials needed to renovate the yachts as well as new sails; the pier got repaired, and the study room got equipped and insulated for classes taking place in the winter. The investments were made after a project on reviving yachting sports in Nizhniy Tagil won EVRAZ Holding’s grant competition.
‘Nizhniy Tagil locals took up sailing sixty-one years ago thanks to Viktor Sharov., who used to work as an engineer at EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ NTMK). There are over sixty people in the club right now, including quite a few NTMK employees and their children. The young sportsmen and women are very enthusiastic about this out-of-the-ordinary sport. EVRAZ intends to keep supporting their initiatives,’ says Director of EVRAZ Holding Ural’s charity foundation Elena Raudshtein.
The skatepark, on the other hand, was the idea of Konstantin Shvedov, Nizhniy Tagil Duma deputy and Deputy Tech Director at EVRAZ NTMK. The site is now well suited for BMX, push scooters, and skateboarding. There’s a range of stairs, roll-ins, banks, a pyramid ramp, a mini ramp, a vert wall, a manual pad, and so on. The site has been provided by the town council.
EVRAZ allocated more than RUB 3.5m for the project.
