MegaFon Helps Find 60 Missing People

UrBC, Moscow, June 19, 2019. MegaFon’s digital platform meant for making it easier to find children and adults going missing has helped locate more than sixty people so far. The platform reduces the time it takes the rescue services to take action and to find and question witnesses from several weeks down to several minutes and thus saves lives, the telecom company’s press service reports.

‘MegaFon carried out its pilot project in cooperation with Liza Alert rescue team. The idea is to find potential witnesses who might have information regarding the missing person. The company selects the search area based on the person’s last registered location and sends out text messages (describing the person’s appearance) to all MegaFon users who happened to be in the same location at approximately the same time,’ the company explains.

60 messaging campaigns have been carried out since the launch of the pilot project in March 2019; all the missing persons have been found.

The text messages get sent to MegaFon customers who agreed to receiving them when they signed their user agreement. You can also subscribe to the service at MegaFon’s stores any time.

The rescue campaigns can get coordinated in every part of the country where MegaFon operates.
