UrBC, Moscow, June 10, 2019. MegaFon and PJSC ROSSETI’s subsidiary Interregional Distribution Grid Company of Siberia (IDGC of Siberia) signed a long-term partnership agreement, the telecom company’s press service reports.
The agreement was signed by Director-General at IDGC of Siberia Pavel Akilin and MegaFon’s Director-General Gevork Vermishyan at Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum.
‘The two companies are looking into the issues of electric power transfer; for one, special slope-measuring sensors could get installed at electric mains in Yemelyanovsky Digital District in Krasnoyarsk Territory. A drone would collect the sensor data on a regular basis and feed the data into a server system. The system would then analyze the main status and offer recommendations as to whether any repairs are necessary,’ the press service says.
Another point the agreement covers is the development of a mobile app that will allow end users to submit their electric power meter information and pay their electricity bills right from their smartphones.
‘Thanks to this agreement, the energy engineers will be able to use all the advanced data processing and storage technologies, ready AI-based platforms, and the best practices and customized solutions of the professional telecom operator and the leading digital opportunities and competencies supplier that is MegaFon,’ says MegaFon’s Director-General Gevork Vermishyan.
IDGC of Siberia will provide worksites with meal-catering options, access to fiber optic appliances, help with the housing and installation of telecom equipment, and access to tie-lines and antenna feeder systems at their infrastructure facilities.
‘I do believe that our partnership with MegaFon will be a long-term one, and that this agreement is just the first chapter in the history of our large-scale joint projects; the plan is to complete the task set by the President, that is, to introduce digital economy in Siberia (one of Russia’s National Projects for 2019-2024), in the best way. It is the energy sector that is going to become the basis of and the foundation for the country’s digital economy. This is why finding a reliable partner such as MegaFon matters so much,’ says Director-General at IDGC of Siberia Pavel Akilin.
