UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 13, 2019. EVRAZ Holding’s Raspadskaya Coal Company restored the war memorial in Osinniki in time for Victory Day (May 9), the holding’s PR Department reports.
‘The memorial features the names of 240 miners from Kapitalnaya Mine (now known as Osinnikovskaya Mine) who were killed in Great Patriotic War. The memorial was put up in Osinniki’s Stroygorodok area as early as 1985, in celebration of the 40th Victory Day. Raspadskaya Coal Company financed the reconstruction in March 2011, when 24 memorial plaques with the names of the war victims got installed. This year, the company had the memorial reconstructed again,’ the PR Department says.
The six-meter stele got reinforced, the cast-iron plaques got renovated, and the Eternal Flame’s star-shaped foundation got rebuilt. The pedestal was also coated with ceramic porcelain tiles.
The reconstructed memorial was unveiled on May 6. Osinniki Council officials, Osinnikovskaya Mine’s managers, miners, and former employees, and the town locals all attended the ceremony. There was a minute of silence, and some flowers and wreaths got placed next to the monument as well.
