Harley-Davidson Calls 181 Motorcycles Off Russian Market Due to Brake Issues

16 April 2019 (09:11)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 16, 2019. Harley-Davidson is calling 181 XG1motorcycles off the Russian market due to brake support issues, Rosstandart reports.

The product recall touches upon all vehicles sold since January 2015.

‘The brake defect might affect the motorcycle operation safety. The brake supports might wear out in aggressive environments over time; this is particularly true of seaside locations or places where highway salt is in use. The resulting corrosion will then bring about the support sucker failure, which, when unnoticed, may lead to increased brake dragging and therefore an accident,’ Rosstandart says.

Harley-Davidson RUS’s authorized representatives are going to inform the motorcycle owners they need to take their vehicle to the nearest dealer for repairs.

The brake supports will get replaced at no extra cost to the motorcycle owners.
