Mercedes-Benz Calls 700+ Cars Off Russian Market

UrBC, Moscow, April 18, 2019. Mercedes-Benz is calling 762 Mercedes-Benz X-CLASS (470) and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter V-Class (447) units off the Russian market due to possible airbag and automatic emergency call issues, Rosstandart reports.

The product recall involves Mercedes-Benz X-CLASS (470) makes that got manufactured in January-December 2018.

‘The automobiles are being called off due to the automatic emergency call system possibly not functioning properly. This means the system might not actually make an emergency call if an accident occurs, and rescue teams/ambulance will receive no call, information, or directions to get to the scene,’ it is explained.

The vehicles will have their Hermes SCN coding adjusted.

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter V-Class (447) makes sold since January 2019 are being called off due to possible airbag issues: ‘the plastic cover behind which the front passenger seat airbag is located might get detached when the airbag triggering unit gets activated. This might prevent the front passenger seat airbag from functioning properly. Moreover, the cover or parts of the cover might end up inside the car and cause injury to driver and passengers,’ Rosstandart says.

The automobiles will all have their control panels replaced.

All the repairs will be done at no extra cost to the car owners. Mercedes-Benz RUS’s authorized representatives are going to inform all the owners of the cars that are being recalled.
