EVRAZ NTMK Workers Win Engineer of The Year Contest

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 13, 2019. EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ NTMK) Head of Management System Documentation Development Office Natalya Cherkashina and the plant’s Project Manager for Operational Improvements Alexander Kozyr are now among the winners of the 19th All-Russian Engineer of The Year Contest, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Relations Center reports.
Natalya Cherkashina won the Qualified Engineer Award in Quality Management. Cherkashina is in charge of developing and introducing documentation that can support and improve the plant’s quality management systems. She contributed to the launch of updated versions of ISO/TS 22163:2017 and 9001:2015 international standards at EVRAZ NTMK last year, which resulted in the plant getting sixty-eight compliance certificates as part of both voluntary and obligatory certification procedures for the plant’s facilities and produce.
Alexander Kozyr won the Young People’s Engineering Skills Award in Ferrous Metallurgy. Kozyr is a member of EVRAZ NTMK Engineering Club; he also helped research the specifics of introducing the needle coke technology at the plant. Kozyr won the grand prize of a science and technology conference for his project on getting extra coal tar from ammonia solution; the project has already been implemented and now allows the plant to reduce tar loss and get more product.
‘The winners received their diplomas, nominees’ memorable medals, certificates, and Russia’s Qualified Engineer badges in the course of a ceremony at the Scientific and Engineering Public Organizations’ Union’s Engineering Glory Room in Moscow. They were also put on Russia’s Qualified Engineers Register. 70,000 highly skilled professionals from all over Russia competed for the prizes, but only 380 contestants did get awarded in the end,’ the company says.
