15 January 2019 (09:37)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 15, 2019. Yekaterinburg-based cardholders/customers of the Ural Bank for Reconstruction & Development (UBRD) made RUB 1.7 billion worth of transactions between December 30, 2018 and January 8, 2019; this is 53% more than last winter break, the bank’s press service reports.

Just like one year earlier, the better part of the money got directed to card-to-card transfers; the overall amount (RUB 256.7 million) is comparable with last year’s figures (RUB 253.3 million).

The cards were also used heavily at supermarkets (RUB 15.9 million in 2018-2019 compared with RUB 1.8 million in 2017-2018) and to pay for clothing and footwear items (RUB 6.2 million in 2018=2019 and RUB 1 million in 2017-2018).

‘One strikingly different thing was that this year, locals invested actively in home remodeling and paid their housing bills. RUB 4.8 million got directed to home repairs (compared with only RUB 340,000 one year earlier) and RUB 1.9 million went to housing bill payments (compared with RUB 200,000 one year earlier). Additionally, UBRD cardholders also spent RUB 3.8 million on cars and car-related services; one year earlier, the figure was only RUB 350,000,’ the bank’s press service reports.
