6 December 2018 (09:32)

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, December 6, 2018. Metallurg Magnitogorsk Ski Resort, which Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) put up next to Lake Bannoye, got launched fifteen years ago this month, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

The place is a popular mountain ski resort with over 200,000 visitors a year; the resort won Urals’ Best Mountain Ski Resort, Russia’s Best Mountain Ski Resort, and Best Sports Facility for Tourism awards. Metallurg Magnitogorsk also hosts high-profile mountain skiing, snowboarding, and mountain bike competitions on a regular basis.

The resort was designed with all kinds of mountain skiers — professional to amateurs — in mind. There are seven different skiing pistes with various degrees of difficulty that are suitable for skiing both in daylight and after dark.

There is a special ski lift to take skilled and advanced skiers to the top of the mountain; beginners, skiers and snowboarders alike, can use a 300-meter skiing run. Private and group skiing and snowboarding classes are available. There’s also a children’s ski club on site.

This year’s skiing season took off at Metallurg Magnitogorsk Ski Resort on November 10.
