MMK-Kurort to Hold Snowboard World Cup n Magnitogorsk

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, November 12, 2019. MMK-Kurort’s Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Ski Resort will host the first round of Snowboard World Cup in parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom for the first time ever on December 7-8, Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Information & PR Department reports.

The contest’s principal judge and Head of Sports & Tourist Issues at OOO Abzakovo Mikhail Kuznetsov, Head of Magnitogorsk Physical Culture, Sports & Tourism Division Alexander Berchenko, and Director at MMK-Kurort Management Company Yegor Kozhayev all talked about the organization of and infrastructure for the event and about the things the spectators and online viewers will get to see.

‘The World Cup rounds are among the top three snowboarding competitions. The only championships superior to these ones are the world championship and the Olympics. Now dual slalom and PGS are among the most spectacular, high-speed sports there are. The only time Russia hosted slalom competitions was during the Sochi Olympics. No other contests were ever held,’ the company says.

This round of the Snowboard World Cup will bring the best snowboarders to Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Ski Resort, including current world and Olympics champions such as Vic Wild, Dmitri Loginov, Andrei Sobolev, and Claudia Riegler.

200 sportsmen and women (150 people from 14 different countries have signed up so far) will be competing for four sets of medals. Russia’s national team comprises 32 people (16 women and 16 men).
