UrBC, Magnitogorsk, October 18, 2018. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) now offers guided tours of the premises to the general public, with a few routes to choose from, the company press service reports.

MMK has been hosting guided tours for visitors for a while now: over 4,000 people came to see the plant last year alone. Now there are special options for the younger visitors as well.

Taming the Fire is a guided tour of Russia’s largest blast furnace department and the unique Mill 5000 that makes goods for large-diameter pipe manufacturers as well as for ship- and bridge-building companies.

Steel Evolution is a tour dedicated to MMK’s remarkable history and modern-day developments that covers the blast furnace department, the Mill 5000 section, and the plant’s Science & Technology Museum.

This Is Where My Dad Works is a special guided tour for children aged 6-15; the young visitors will get on the bus to see all of MMK’s crucial industrial facilities. Calling on Metallurgists is another bus tour aimed at children and teens that starts with a visit to MMK Museum.

The plant pays special attention to safety issues, so even a bus tour of the premises means everyone has to put on a safety helmet. The visitors also have to undergo a safety drill before the tour begins. Finally, every visitor gets covered by SOGAZ Insurance.
