10 October 2019 (09:17)
UrBC, Magnitogorsk, October 10, 2019. Head of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Nikolai Zvyagin gave a talk on the company’s experience with industrial tourism programs at EXPOTRAVEL 2019 Exhibition in Yekaterinburg on October 4-5.
According to MMK’s Information & PR Department, the exhibition program covered a session of Russian Tourist Industry Union dedicated to different kinds of tourism. The session was attended by federal and regional tourism management officials.
MMK first launched its industrial tours on October 16, 2018: MMK Steel Evolution Guided Tour comprised four specially designed tours for adults in the 16+ age group and children in the 6+ age group. More than 4,000 visitors to the plant (including 1,500 children) went on the guided tours in the last twelve months.
The guided tours of MMK’s production sites comply with all the safety requirements, are full of fun and interesting facts, and are quite spectacular to attend.
A visit to the plant’s production site is totally safe: a guide accompanies the group at all times; visitors get around by bus, accompanied by a safety vehicle; they also have to wear special-purpose clothing and footwear as well as individual protection gear. The visitors also have to undergo a safety drill prior to entering the site. What is more, they are all insured against accidents.
There’s a range of souvenirs to choose from at the company shop as well.
MMK’s Information & PR Department says quite a few celebrities have been on these guided tours by now. The company also sold its Steel Evolution Tour to travel agents in Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, and other locations.
