MegaFon Sets Up VPN for Air Dispatchers

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 27, 2018. MegaFon’s engineers set up a virtual private network on the basis of their fiber optic channels for he air dispatchers operating in the Urals and the Volga Region, the telecommunications provider’s press service reports.
Air traffic control towers based in Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, Syktyvkar, Kurgan, and Izhevsk are now connected through a protected channel. The VPN ensures secure online transfer of data related to all aerial activity in the Ural Air Navigation sector.
Ural Air Navigation (a member enterprise of State ATM Corporation Federal State Unitary Enterprise) controls nearly 700,000 m2 of air space. The agency’s air dispatchers and engineers are in charge of air safety and air traffic coordination in eight large airports in the area: Koltsovo Airport (Yekaterinburg), Balandino Airport (Chelyabinsk), Bolshoye Savino Airport (Perm), Magnitogorsk Airport, Izhevsk Airport, Pobedilovo Airport (Kirov), Kurgan Airport, and Syktyvkar Airport.
