UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 14, 2018. A new NGO was set up in Pervouralsk on ChelPipe Group’s initiative, the Group’s press service reports.

‘This volunteer organization will deal with the city’s environmental problems and will try to attract the public’s attention to environmental protection issues. Fifty alumni of and students on the Group’s Future of White-Coated Metallurgy Corporate Training Program became the organization’s first members,’ the press service says.

Activists are going to coordinate waste recycling and sorting events and urban improvement projects. A special emphasis will be made on protecting the River Chusovaya, the only current to cross the Ural Mountains. A ‘green’ rafting race and shore/tourist site cleanups will take place. The organization also plans to focus on education and to organize creative contests for photographers and media representatives who promote a more conscientious approach to nature’s resources.
