8 September 2017 (13:29)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 8, 2017. 40% of this year’s crops and grains have already been harvested, Sverdlovsk Region’s Information Policy Department refers to the region’s Agriculture Minister Dmitri Degtyarev as stating.
‘This year’s crop output is larger than that for last year. The harvesting process is a bit slower due to changeable weather, but we still fall within the schedule all in all. All local farming businesses intend to complete their harvesting campaign in time, so they are busy in the fields 24/7. The essential thing is to have suitable weather for harvesting,’ the minister said.
Potatoes are also being harvested this month, with 22% of this year’s output already collected. This year’s output is 29 centners greater than that for last year and totals to 182 centners pro hectare.
The forage campaign is also nearly over: 28 centners of forage crops have been placed in store for every head of cattle in the area. The target figure is 30 centners pro head.
