UrBC, Chelyabinsk, July 6, 2017. A new 50-megawatt turbine unit will soon get installed at Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) Central Power Station in order to increase the station’s overall capacity. After MMK processed a number of technical proposals and coordinated a number of tender procedures, the final contract for the delivery of the needed equipment was signed with Ural Turbine Plant.

According to MMK press service, the turbine will be manufactured in as little as ten months. The unit will be fitted with the latest automatic control system to ensure energy efficiency and optimal settings. For one, less heat will be needed to produce one kilowatt of electric power, which means the station’s natural gas spending will go down and its overall efficiency rate up.

‘The new equipment will result in the station’s improved overall performance and will make MMKs’s entire power supply system more reliable,’ the press service says.

The turbine, the condensing unit, the power generating unit, and all the ancillary equipment are to be delivered in the second quarter of 2018. The turbine will get launched by the end of next year.
