UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 13, 2017. According to telecom analysts, Urals-based Russians tend to watch movies online now that they are in the countryside in the summertime. MegaFon Ural’s Internet traffic registered outside of big cities rose by 25% last month, the company’s press service reports.

‘According to Deloitte findings, Russians’ TV viewing is now down eight minutes on average, while smartphone-based Internet surfing is up eighteen minutes a day. The national Internet audience increased by 1.72m people last year alone,’ the press service says.

It is explained that MegaFon.TV serves as a great alternative to television out of town. The app is available on a smartphone, a tablet, or a laptop, with dozens of TV channels, programs, and top films.

‘Starting May, locals begin drifting to the countryside, with workload at our base stations redistributed accordingly. Interestingly enough, this year’s increase in MegaFon.TV use was responsible for most of the rise in our Internet traffic. Thanks to extensive network coverage users based in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Lake Chusovoye, Lake Baltym, and the villages of Medny, Kashino, Kadnikovo, Kosulino, and Palkinsky Torfyanik can watch their favorite movies and programs at 4G speed,’ says MegaFon Sverdlovsk Region Infrastructure Director Lyudmila Pavlova.
