MegaFon Subscribers Spend 5,500 Hours On Phone At Innoprom 2017

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 19, 2017. MegaFon subscribers spent more than 5,500 hours on their phones during the four days of the Innoprom 2017 International Industrial Exhibition, which was twice as long as one year earlier, MegaFon’s press service reports.

According to the telecommunications provider’s analysts, the second day of the exhibition proved the most popular one: visitors to Yekaterinburg EXPO site spent more time calling others and surfing the Internet from their smartphones on July 11 than on any other day, with call duration up by 38% and Internet traffic up by 91% compared with the very first day of the exhibition.

‘Our network workload was 2.4 times greater than usual for both voice calls and Internet traffic during this year’s Innoprom. Still, the entire system operated smoothly despite the greatly increased workload. Given the soaring mobile Internet traffic, the average 4G network speed stood at 31 Mb/sec, with exhibition participants and delegates downloading over 1 terabyte worth of data,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Infrastructure Director Anton Scherbakov.

Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook were responsible for most of the traffic at Innoprom. Users mostly went on the Internet to watch videos online and to send or receive bulky text and media files. Over a half of MegaFon subscribers proved Android users.
