UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 5, 2017. EVRAZ Holding is currently getting the primary technological equipment at its Zapadno-Sibirskaya Power Station repaired, EVRAZ Holding Siberia’s Corporate Relations Center reports.

The station went through the heating season of 2016/2017 in its usual mode and provided the necessary heating and hot water to end users in full. The provided temperature range was coordinated with the city council and was compiled with throughout the entire heating period.

‘In order to get ready for the upcoming heating season, we have to focus on repairing boilers and turbine generators, which ensure a stable and emergency-free performance. Over 400,000 kg worth of boiler surface will get replaced to enhance their capacity. All in all, 11 boilers and 7 turbine generators will get repaired, and a special effort will be made to improve the station’s explosion and fire safety,’ the Center says.

In the meantime, the station keeps on reconstructing its Boiler Unit 9 and switching it to the use of secondary energy sources such as blast furnace and coke gases. This is expected to reduce maintenance costs and downtime, to increase energy production by 10%, to improve the station’s overall energy efficiency, and reduce the environmental impact on the nearby town by cutting down on the fuel-burning emissions. The upgraded Unit 9 will be re-launched in the third quarter of the year.
