UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 2, 2016. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Director-General Oleg Sienko took part in Board meeting coordinated by Russia’s Machine-Builders’ Union and Defense Industry Support League. The goal was to look into the national defense industry’s performance and to come up with strategic goals for the future. The meeting was held in Moscow on October 31, 2016.

According to the corporation’s press service, Oleg Sienko, who is Russia’s Machine-Builders’ Union’s Deputy Chair, spoke about the improvements that need to be introduced in the defense procurement legislation, including the important Federal Act 159.

Despite the recent amendments, the federal act in question remains extremely difficult to put to practice. The Union keeps working to improve the legislation in this respect. For one, the Union’s proposals have already been taken into account when the last series of changes were made in the law.

‘We are currently liaising with the Defense Ministry, and, thanks to the Union and the League, we can present a solid opinion and a unified set of proposals. We hope the problems will get dealt with gradually so that enterprises handling defense procurement can work more efficiently and meet their contractual obligations,’ Sienko said.
