UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 14, 2016. The oxygen compressor department at EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhiy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (EVRAZ NTMK) was built seventy-five years ago this month, the company press service reports.
To celebrate the occasion, a special ceremony was held at the plant’s Culture & Arts Center to award the best workers and long-service employees. More than sixty people received thank-you letters and honorary certificates.
‘The department’s function is to ensure uninterrupted supply of air, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and industrial gases to the plant’s production departments and to make sure the company’s 230 km worth of pipelines get repaired in time,’ the press service says.
The department keeps investing in equipment upgrades to ensure energy savings. This year, a compressed air dryer was launched on the eve of Metallurgist’s Day, which resulted in stable supply of good quality air and gas to the plant’s rolling departments and in up to 10m kilowatt-hours worth of energy savings a year.
