EVRAZ NTMK Improves Repair Quality

17 November 2016 (14:23)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 17, 2016. EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Works (NTMK) recently purchased a new transportable repair depot mounted on GAZ 66 van to ensure timely repair jobs for its oxygen converter shop, the holding’s press service reports.

The repair station can be used to transport special-purpose equipment and a team of mechanics (up to six people all in all) and to carry out repairs proper. This is a heated, insulated van with all the lighting fixtures, which makes the repairing process in winter or at night much easier.

The van is also fitted with special welding equipment, a hydraulic pump, a pipe blower set, a portable hydraulic press, a drilling machine, and an angle grinder. All of these can be easily plugged into the van power supply grid. This means repair mechanics will now fix most of the problems right on the spot, which both cuts down on the time needed for repairs and improves the end result.

The plant’s oxygen converter shop repair mechanics are currently in charge of over 85km of all kinds of gas pipelines on EVRAZ NTMK premises.
