Ural Vagon Zavod Launches Spring-Testing Stand

24 August 2016 (13:03)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 24, 2016. SIP-1 00.00.000, a new spring-testing facility meant for testing railcar springs for fatigue life, was launched at Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Ural Railcar Building Design Office, the company press service reports.

‘The new unit has already been calibration-certified to make sure it can really provide all the necessary testing modes under different parameters,’ the press service says.

The spring-testing stand allows for technologically advanced, high-precision, increased data accuracy simultaneous testing of two springs. These precision and accuracy are ensured through an electronic control system.

The unit’s increased loading rate means the tests take considerably less time: a pair of springs undergoes up to 5×106 testing cycles in only ten to twelve hours.
