UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 22, 2016. An extraordinary heat wave caused air conditioner and fan sales to go up nine times on Yekaterinburg market in July and August compared with last summer, the electronic goods store M.Video informs UrBC.
‘These two months’s unbelievable temperature resulted in an unprecedented increase in air conditioner, split system, and fan sales in Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk Region: the number of units sold in July and August rose by 900% against one year earlier,’ the store representative explains.
The weather in Yekaterinburg has indeed been very unusually hot this August: according to gismeteo.ru, there were at least eleven days in the first half of the month when the outside temperature stood at above thirty degrees centigrade. Interestingly, there was not a single such a hot day in June and only one in July. August 9th proved the hottest day of the year so far (the average of 27.3 degrees centigrade throughout a twenty-four-hour period).
