Yekaterinburg: 26,000 New Cars Sold in January-August
4 October 2017 (13:44)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 4, 2017. 25,949 new automobiles (cars and trucks) got sold in Yekaterinburg in the first eight months of the year, which exceeded the figures for one year earlier by 19%, Auto Dealer Yekaterinburg’s press service reports.
‘August proved one of the peak-sales months this year, with 3,675 cars bought from dealers. This is 17% more than in August 2016. The only better sales figures were registered in March and June,’ the agency informs.
The top ten bestsellers have remained the same as before, with Lada still No.1 on the market (the brand’s sales rocketed by 48% in the eight months of 2017). Renault comes second (+24%) and KIA comes third (+54).
‘Eighteen car brands managed to improve their sales figures throughout January to March, as many as twenty-one brands managed to do so by June, and another one was added to this list in August. We expect Toyota and GAZ, which are among the top ten best-selling brands but whose sales are dropping, to recover and improve in the nearest future,’ says Auto Dealer Yekaterinburg’s Director Mikhail Chaplygin.
Lexus is still the leader of the luxury car market. BMW outstripped Mercedes-Benz last year to become No.2 and still retains its position. It’s worth noting that sales of Jaguar and Infiniti proved to grow the fastest this year (up 10% and 18%, respectively).
Yekaterinburg’s share of the national car market came to 2.6% in January-August 2017 (against 2.4% a year earlier).
