EVRAZ Mine Begins New Longwall

2 June 2016 (17:39)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 2, 2016. Workers at Raspadskaya Mine (part of EVRAZ Holding) recently started working on the new longwall 5a-7-30 (over 2,800,000,000 kg of metallurgical coal), EVRAZ Holding Siberia’s PR Department reports.

It is estimated that the miners will produce around 250,000,000 kg of coal from the longwall every month.

As it happens, the unit 5а-7-30 got commissioned on schedule despite the challenging geological factors. First, a series of dismantling, assembly, and sinking jobs had to be performed, and more than 9,000 meters worth of mine working was needed. Preliminary draining-out of gases as well as ongoing draining-out into rock cavity through underground wells also proved necessary to ensure safety. Additionally, the longwall gets aired with the main fan.

‘The coal will be produced by Alexei Ivanov’s team, who are some of the best stoping workers at Raspadskaya Coal Company with unfailingly impressive production output. The mine currently extracts coal from longwalls 5а-7-30, 5а-10-20, and 4-9-25, with the projected output of up to 29,800,000 kg of coal a day,’ the PR Department says.

Raspadskaya Mine coal gets supplied to metallurgical and coke-chemical facilities in Russia, Ukraine, and Southeast Asia.
