The All-Russian NOSTROY Conference for the members of the National Builders’ Union is scheduled for the second half of March; this time, there are eight points on the agenda for the directors of self-regulatory organizations to work on, including election of NOSTROY President and membership fee-related decisions.

So far, only one well-known businessperson on the Forbes Russia list, head of LSR Group (one of the largest developers in Moscow Region and Saint Petersburg) Andrei Molchanov decided to run for the union’s president. There is little time left before the elections, so there are grounds to think there will be just one candidate to choose from’.

Analysts believe a person from the business world decided to enter NOSTROY because the government now sets stricter requirements for self-regulatory organizations and there is a need for stricter policy, greater financial discipline, and removal of small local organizations. A businessman with plenty of experience in managing a large corporation will, like no other, prove an efficient crisis manager who can help increase NOSTROY budget and make the union more effective.
