UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 2, 2015. Yekaterinburg water supply and maintenance authorities completed the gradual closing down of the city’s outdoor fountains for the winter, to protect them from the cold, the city council reports.
All of the fountains have been prepared for winter by now, with all the water removed carefully from the pipes and the bowls sweeped and scrubbed. Some of the engineering infrastructure has also been removed.
‘The city council had one of the most famous fountains, the Stone Flower, renovated this year: all the electronic equipment, cables, pipes, and the pump unit were replaced, as were the bowl and the stand. The renovation of the masterpiece created by Peter Demintsev in 1960 is already complete, so locals and visitors will be able to enjoy the spectacle of the fountain at work in the spring, when the warm days arrive,’ the city council says.
