Heating season starts in Yekaterinburg

16 September 2015 (09:15)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 16, 2015. Head of Yekaterinburg Council Alexander Yakob gave orders for the heating season to begin, the city council’s press service reports.

‘The take-off does not actually mean that radiators will grow hot at all the buildings at once on the very first day of this very important campaign. You can’t ‘warm up’ a large city by simply pressing a button. An entire chain of facilities, where every actor has a specific function to perform, needs to be activated. First of all, heating suppliers will focus on getting the heating grids filled with water. After that, the water will start circulating and thus delivering heat to end users,’ the city council says.

Heat will be arriving to various buildings in several stages between September 14 and September 28, with socially important ones getting it first and apartment buildings with unpaid bills last. Certain radiators or pipes might stay cold at first because of excess air inside. If this happens to be the case, end users are to call their housing company to have the problem dealt with.

The city council is going to keep an eye on this year’s heating campaign.
