MMK Trading House to supply rolled steel to Volgograd stadium

10 September 2015 (09:14)

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, September 10, 2015. MMK Trading House won a number of tenders to become the key rolled steel supplier for the construction of a stadium in Volgograd.

‘We have already delivered around 1,000,000 kg of metal goods made at Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works. Last month, orders were placed for the delivery of another 1,500,000 kg of rolled steel in September 2015,’ the company says.

The stadium will look like an upturned truncated cone with the diameter of 303m. The facades that grow narrower at the bottom have to do with the fact that the stadium must fit in a limited space. The overhanging upper parts will serve as canopies above the entrance to offer the in-coming visitors more comfort.

The stadium, to be called Arena Pobeda, will be built in Volgograd in 2017, in time for the World Football Championship 2018.
