UVZ Corporation launches compressor unit

9 June 2015 (12:57)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 9, 2015. Kamensk Uralsky Foundry Plant (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation) launched a local compressed air production and distribution network, the corporation’s press service reports.

This new addition enabled the plant to start using its energy-consuming compressor unit from the seventies as an emergency back-up only. The new network comprises three compact, up-to-date units that are spaced around the plant. The first of them has been used at the non-ferrous casting department for several years now. The second one was launched this March and the third one in May: these two new Russian compressors with the capacity of 30 m3 and 12 m3 of compressed air per minute cost the company 3.6m RUR.

Each of the units provides compressed air for several departments at once, where compressed air of 5 to 6 atmospheres is needed for pressure, metal-processing, and other equipment to operate.

Thanks to their own compressed air system, the plant’s production departments can now be more efficient and mobile. The main advantage, however, lies in considerable energy savings provided by the modern technology and the local network’s flexibility.
