MMK wins grand-prix for best online project

November 18, 2014. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won in the Best Internet Project 2014 Contest that was held among Russia and the CIS-based metallurgical companies and metal traders.
The contest was coordinated by the Metallosnabzheniye I Sbyt magazine, with support of the Russian Union of Metal Goods Suppliers. The awarding ceremony took place during Metal Expo 2014 International Industrial Exhibition in Moscow.
The contest coordinators commented on MMK web portal’s impressive information richness, ease of navigation, and its efficient online services for customers and suppliers. The company’s website was chosen as the best Internet solution which promotes and creates new customer and partner connections.
The company site (www.mmk.ru) was set up in 1998. The website provides exhausting information about the company’s structure and history. Some of the headings are useful for special target audiences such as suppliers, customers, investors, and reporters. The site also features some interactive rubrics with videos, photos, and graphics, as well as an online shop and an electronic trading and purchasing platform. The site has received nearly 7m visitors since it was updated in 2005 and currently gets over 3,200 page views daily.
MMK’s policy consists in introducing the most advanced communications and Internet technologies to enhance its production efficiency and to offer its customers ever more convenience. Customers can already track their orders online throughout every stage, and very soon, they will also be able to place their orders online. MMK is also working on the launch of the Big Data technology, which will allow the company not only to accumulate and store data but also to process them in order to improve production process and make forecasts about the industrial facilities’ performance.
